Ethel was a bit of a demon in her wheelchair, and loved to charge around the nursing home, taking corners on one wheel and getting up to maximum speed on the long corridors.

Because the poor woman was one sandwich short of a picnic the other residents tolerated her and some of them actually joined in.

One day Ethel was speeding up one corridor when a door opened and Kooky Clarence stepped out with his arm outstretched.

"STOP!," he shouted in a firm voice. "Have you got a license for that thing?"

Ethel fished around in her handbag and pulled out a Kit Kat wrapper and held it up to him.

"OK" he said, and away Ethel sped down the hall.

As she took the corner near the TV lounge on one wheel, weird Harold popped out in front of her and shouted "STOP! Have you got proof of insurance?"

Ethel dug into her handbag, pulled out a drink coaster and held it up to him. Harold nodded and said "On your way, Ma'am."

As Ethel neared the final corridor, Crazy Craig stepped out in front of her, Butt- Naked, and holding his "You-Know-What" in his hand.

"Oh, good grief," yelled Ethel, "Not that Damn Breathalyzer Test again!"

Dale Edward Carey

Born: January 9th, 1932
Died: September 1st, 2008

Dale will join his wife, Marie, of over 50 years who also passed away not too long ago. He is survived by his 3 children, Scott, Dave and Lisa. He is also survived by his grandchildren.

The thing that will always stick out in my mind is Dale's smile. I really don't remember a time when he wasn't smiling. He loved people. He loved being around people and having people around him.

Dale was a Veteran of the Korean War. I remember he walked in most every parade with other veterans from the area. He was very proud of the time he spent serving his country.

I will add more once I have spoken to the family.

I keep thinking==there's something you should know==there's something you should know.

I'm not sure what that's all about.

I wonder what life would be like without screaming?!?! Would I want to scream just to break the monotony? Sometimes when I'm driving I will just scream and scream. I kind of wish I were driving right now.

I used to have dreams where everything was the same. Everything was either black or white and all the shades of gray between the two. Imagine Leave it to Beaver, only there was nothing funny or amusing about it. The men ALL left for work at the same time. The cars were white and backed out of the driveways at the same time. One white car after another. All the houses were a gleaming white.

This doesn't seem horrible at first, however you must know, I had this dream quite often.

What if nothing ever changed? What if all your belongings and habits were the same as your neighbors? One husband. One wife. One son. One daughter. Oh, and remember the perfect little puppy that never gets bigger and never barks. I'm drifting.............

I was crying earlier. My eyes still burn. I feel wasted.

Right now I'm listening to Wanda Sykes: Sick & Tired. It some funny shit. Almost everything she's said is right on with what I believe. Real!!!

My dad and I used to joke about how my little brother was going to end up in Dear Lodge(prison) and my mother in Warm Sprints(mental hospital). It turns out I was the one that nearly ended up in Warm Springs.

I was close.

My therapist and psychiatrist recommended I be admitted to Steven's House, which is a transition/safe house. People go there if they don't feel safe or if they feel they are going to harm themselves or someone else but are still able to take care of themselves to some degree. And then there are the straight up mental cases.

I was sent to Steven's house because I was changing medications and people were afraid I was going to harm myself. I was going to harm myself!

The house wasn't horrible. The staff was nice enough. The problem was, they took all belongings away from you. They took my chocolate. They kept my cigarettes. I had to ask for a cigarette every time I wanted to go out, which was every fucking minute because I was so nervous and scared.

I had to ask permission to take a shower and then I wasn't allowed to shave, which I suppose is understandable because of the razors. But seriously, how the fuck am I going to kill myself with one of those Bic razors? I'd have to cut myself so many fucking times. Give me a break.

Oh another thing. They took our fucking shoe laces. WTF???!!!??! I'm going to hang myself with my shoe laces? I suppose people have tried and even succeeded, but seriously, logically, is a shoe lace going to really strangle you? It would take too fucking long. You'd have to be knocked out so you wouldn't be able to remove the fucking thing.

I only stayed at the house for a few days. I threw a tantrum of sorts until the doctors and therapists decided to let me leave ADA(against doctors advice). I'm sure I looked like a real mental case myself.

.,,,,...,,I can't stand the way he thinks about some things. He sends me these totally ridiculous emails where I just don't know what I should think or say so I simply ignore them. However, today he sent me an email that said this and only this:

"Do you believe in God? You better. Calif. supreme court over turned law of marriage between Man and Woman. Which allowed all the gay people to get married.
God set the whole state on fire."

I replied back:

"I believe in God,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but I don't believe Jesus was or is my savior or whatever. I guess we just have different ideas on things dad........................................................ I don't believe in HELL either.............. I imagine he'll simply delete my reply and never say anything about it. He doesn't like confrontation. He has high blood pressure, so he just walks away. My dad and I used to fight, or argue rather, about everything. I often thought he wasn't listening to what I had to say so I would become complete engrossed with anger until I'd reach a point where I just wanted to strangle him. I learned later he was just messing with me. I've stopped arguing with him about everything because it only makes me feel and look silly. He is absolutely the most stubborn person I know. Even if he is shown to be completely wrong he will stick to what he believes or thinks until the discussion is complete.

He says things to people that can be taken as very hurtful. The property adjacent to my dad's 1st wife's property has 3 donkeys. My dad drove up to Jackie's, his 1st wife, to see their oldest daughter, Dawn, when we were all in Montana last month. He drove past the donkeys just like everyone else and when he got to the house he asked my sisters, Dawn and Dyan, how they had gotten up here so fast because he had just seen them down at the corner fighting. My sisters were confused until further inquiry revealed he was talking about the donkeys.

Going Home!

So, I've been in Montana a few days and its been really great. The weather has been less than appealing, expecially today with the snow and everything, but it was better than scorching hot!!!! (I'll put up pictures of the snow when I get back to Iowa). We didn't go up to Glacier Park today because of the snow. We got a couple inches down here so I'd imagine Glacier would have gotten quite a bit more since the park consists of a vast amount of mountains. Road to the Sun goes up to the top, to Logon Pass, right up near Canada. Everything is beautiful there. There are waterfalls along the road all the way to the visitor center at the top.

Anyway, enough about that. I'm going to be home tomorrow and am very glad. Kyle's baseball team made it to the county tournament. They play Saturday! Yea!!! I'm interested to see the flooding I've been hearing about. All the waterways are high here in Montana as well. The Flathead River is much wider than it usually is. From the National Bison Range I was able to see bits of the river and it didn't look too hot.

I have to sleep now. Have to get up early, make sure I have everything, drive to Missoula, which is over an hour away. My flight leaves at 7:20 am mountain time, 8:20am central time, so I have to be there by 5:20am.

Oh, oh, I saw my grandmother today! Two of my sister's, Sue and Lisa, went along with me. We had quite a nice time. Grandma showed us all the photos of her great-grandkids. She has 13 now. She is the last of my grandparents so it is important to me that I know her. I also ran into my dad's younger sister, Myrna, on the street in front of her son's and husband's store. While I was talking to Myrna I saw my mother's little sister, Joan, walking toward the library. I was so excited to visit with both of them.

My Trip Thus Far

I'm currently at Therese's house. Its 7:34 Mountain Time. Everyone in the house is asleep except for myself and a couple cats. There are 2 cats that are all over me. Last night as I was trying to fall asleep I would hear meowing outside my door. The door was only slightly ajar. Soon the door was open and light shining across the floor. I'm not sure what the cats were doing, but there was noise from the closet. There was meowing. It was interesting. I am currently in the office and have just closed the door because the cats were in here. One was walking across the key board, which doesn't help me much, and the other was clawing the couch. There is one cat in here, but he/she is laying atop a box . One of the cats I earlier dismissed tried to get up there and the cat on top began to hiss. Ha!

Ok, well my flights were all right. The flight from DSM to Denver was crowded, which made it a bit uncomfortable because of my size. The flight from Denver to Missoula, MT was very bumpy, but nice. I watched an eposide of the Simpson's---Lisa and Bart were doing a UN club at school and Homer started his own internet company.

I took some pictures of the clouds and some mountains in Montana. I have no clue which mountains. There isn't any snow on these mountains, so they must not be very tall---

This first photos was taken just as I came over Ravalli hill and saw "my" mountains for the first time. This shot is of the Southern end of the Mission Mountains. Here is another shot of the Southern end.

The last 2 photos are taken as I head north.
This shot is of my favorite peak, McDonald Mountain. I think we are going to the National Bison Range today. I'm not sure yet because Therese is going to graduation for SKC (Salish Kootenai College). My nephew has graduation this afternoon but I don't want to go. Its an hours drive back to Missoula and I really would rather not spend my day uncomfortable.

I'm going to Montana for a few days in June. My sister purchased my plane tickets last night. I'm pretty excited about going however, I'm dreading flying. I have a layover in Denver at which time I'll be sitting, doing absolutely nothing, for like 3 hours. I really hate flying. I requested a window seat, even though looking out the window makes me feel ill, because I'd rather have the wall to lean on than have to sit straight for 2 hours, trying not to touch the person beside me. This is probably my biggest hangup with flying. I hate trying not to bother the person beside me. And,,,, I really hate when their leg or arm touches me! This shouldn't be a big deal, but it really annoys me. My trip to Montana is going to take about 6 hours. This does not include my time at the DSM airport. The trip back to DSM is only going to take about 4 hours. I'm not very big on waiting.

I was thinking about purchasing a broadband card from Verizon or Sprint to use while I'm traveling to Montana because I was going to take the train. The train ride would have been 22 hours, which would have been horribly boring since I was traveling alone. However, I'm no longer taking the train so I'm not sure I really need the card, but I kind of want one. We have a wireless network at home, so I don't need it here. I was thinking I would purchase the card and only keep it while I'm traveling, then return it under that 30 day return thing.

Therese says the only carrier in the valley that has decent coverage is Verizon. I can get a discount with both Sprint and Verizon, but I don't know which to go with. Maybe I should have Therese get the card, test it out, then send it to me if it works out. I just checked Sprint's coverage map and the valley is ALL roaming. That won't work! I checked Verizon's page. They have broadband and V-Cast coverage in the valley, although I'm not sure what V-Cast is.

So, I'm looking through Kyle's email address trying to find a registration email and I come accross this email for a Chinese Horoscope. I'm on the phone with my little seestor, so I decide to give her the test. The 1st thing you do is write down two numbers. Then you write down the name of two people of the opposite sex, most would presumably write down their husband/boyfriend, whatever. Well, Lisa chose Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom. I made sure she wanted to keep those names. I mean, I'm thinking she would want to put her boyfriends name, but no, that's what I want she says. I went to Hamilton College for a few months last year and was billed $8,754.00. That is a huge amount considering I only went there for a few months. Grand View College was like $14,000.00 a year. How the hell did they convince me my education would be cheaper there? I got my 1098-T today. I hadn't really thought about how much I was being charged. It was all student loans and I never really think/worry about money. But damn, that is rediculous. I can't say I really learned much at Hamilton. Everything was far toO quick and there was little structure to the classes. I was quite dissapointed. I should have finished my program when I was going to GVC. I'm only about 5 or 6 classes from completion. I'm so stupid!

Ok, so I was going to pick up B from her friend's birthday thing and as I stepped from the walkway to the driveway I fell forward onto my right knee and then onto my stomach। Feels so freaking great!!! *Seriously, this would be great!

*Count the number of times you had to work your ass off to get the ONE thing you thought would make your life absolutely wonderful.

*Then again, life could be what it is: a constant, not going to end until your death, kind of struggle.

*The only major problems I can find with this whole thing is the idea that as you slowly transform back to your pre-conception little you, you begin to lose any control you had of your life.

*Also, theoretically, wouldn't you become less and less intelligent? Or would you retain any knowledge you might have had at your death? Good question. Brand new slate or an old, well read novel?
